Kidâs Movies for Adults
Most of us think of kids movies as being mind-numbing 85-90 minute films with juvenile story lines and simplistic morals. While this is true of the vast majority of films aimed at children, there are exceptions to the rule; often times the message actually is more poignant to a mature audience. In the last few years, two Pixar films have accentuated this phenomenon: âWall-Eâ and âUp.â
âWall-Eâ, last yearâs Academy Award winner for best pictures, shows a post-apocalyptic world where excess has led to destruction. While the robots and people floating around on hover chairs will likely amuse little kids, the message probably hits closer to home for the older audience. The same can be said of the film âUp,â which is nominated for five Oscars this year. There is humor and adventure strewn within the story, but the message of finding your own meaning and purpose in life is probably lost on young audiences.
