Classic Movie Nostalgia

classic-moviesFor years film was an avenue for people to tell stories and give insight to a culture, society or set of ideas. As with most media today, movies have become more superficial and traded substance for marketability. Now, instead of character and plot development, most movies are simply two-hour-long special effects marathons.

Evidence of this trend is palpable in films like “300″ and most of the latest superhero movies, which lack a cohesive plotline but are chockfull of dazzlingly graphics and effects. Call me old-fashioned, but I miss the classic movies like “Citizen Kane” and “The Godfather” which had an appreciation for dialogue and the storyline. Perhaps it is simply that the attention span of audiences today is too short to allow for an in-depth movie of this nature.
